My Review of Headlands Coastal Lodge in Oregon
If you’re looking for somewhere that blends luxury and nature, Headlands Lodge could be the perfect place.
As someone who has lived in the Pacific Northwest for the past seven years, I think the Oregon coast is so underrated. There are so many beautiful spots.
We drove from Seattle, stopped in Cannon Beach for a few nights, and then made our way to Headlands Lodge in Pacific City, Oregon.
Headlands is located on the beach near Cape Kiwanda, right next to a huge sand dune, and has some amazing tide pools!

Why I Loved Headlands Lodge
I sincerely loved our stay at Headlands Lodge. This cozy hotel features 33 oceanfront guest rooms and 18 cottages with views of Haystack Rock and Cape Kiwanda.
The size of this hotel was great and didn’t feel crowded.

The rooms were so stunning and luxurious. Each space features Oregon hardwoods and private balconies for relaxing.
Activities at Headlands
It was so nice to be able to walk out on the beach. Exploring Cape Kiwanda was so much fun. I absolutley LOVED the tide pools. We saw so many amazing star fish.
We also participated in one of Headland’s guided hikes up the sand dune. This was an informative way to learn about the landscape, history, and nature in the area. Our guide was great!
Headlands has a variety of events hosted by their Adventure Team. Guest can sign up for kayaking, guided hikes, stargazing, yoga, and more.
Headlands conveniently has a restaurant on site featuring local ingredients and seasonal dishes. We sincerely enjoyed the fresh food and cocktails.
Overall I found this lodge to be incredibly relaxing! It was a great place to slow down.
What time of year to go to headlands lodge & Spa
We visited Headlands in mid June 2024 and loved this time of year. It was quiet on the beach and not peak tourism yet. It was definitley a bit colder, but the Oregon coast is always a bit chilly. We got lucky with sunny days.
We stayed two nights and I think that a good amount of time. I did wish we had another full day, so I think three nights would be great.
There are a lot of nature activities and a couple of restaurants around, but no too much else to do in the Pacific City area. So, it’s a great weekend stop on your Oregon coast road trip!
Headlands Lodge Gives Back
I was so happy to learn Headlands gives back! Headlands partners with Kind Traveler to give a nightly $5 donation per guest to the Wildlife Center of the North Coast.
Their mission is all about wildlife rehabilitation, ecological education and conservation.
Would I Go Back to Headlands?
YES! While I’ve been wanting to go back to Headlands, the increasing price has kept it out of our budget. It was such a wonderful experience and I do hope to go back one day.
If you’re able to travel to Pacific City and experience Headlands Lodge, I would definitley recommend.
