My Review of The Corner London City: A Green Hotel for Eco Travel

I originally stayed in this hotel back in 2018 when it was part of the Qbic Hotel family and a certified B Corp.

My husband and I had an amazing stay and were so impressed by their dedication to sustainability.

We loved our stay so much that we came back in 2023. However, the hotel had changed ownership and is now called The Corner London City.

I’m glad to see that The Corner London City has kept some of the eco-friendly initiatives. Here is my updated review of this sustainable hotel.

Where is this Green Hotel Located in London?

The Corner London City is located in the Whitechapel neighborhood, while a bit outside the main part of London, a two minute walk to public transit.

There were plenty of restaurants and cafes within walking distance. I personally love the location.

How is this hotel eco-friendly?

A few of the green practices The Corner London City has include:

  • Sustainable furniture made from upcycled materials

  • Energy efficeny with LED lights and solar panels on the roof

  • Non-toxic cleaning products used when possible

  • Natural mattresses that are made from organic materials

The Corner London City Green Hotel London Room Review

I appreciate the quirky, creative design through out the hotel.

We stayed in the Snug Room which was the same type room we stayed in the first time we visited. It’s a windowless room and the cheapest option.

Back in 2018 we felt like the beds were incredibly comfortable, but this time we didn’t find that to be true. I’m not sure if it’s because the hotel is a bit older now or if it was because of the particular room we were in.

I loved the shower and the organic Bee Kind toiletries in the bathroom. I used the shampoo, hand soap, & body wash. All great for my skin as well.

The staff was very kind as well.

A few things I missed since the hotel changed hands included the fresh breakfast. The breakfast is now buffet style. The food previously was all sourced within a 50 mile radius which I thought was amazing and tasted incredibly fresh.

Now, the food is “locally sourced when possible” and I didn’t feel like food was as good as the previous time we stayed here.

We ended up eating outside of the hotel more than our first trip.

Another thing that changed is the hotel used to give free drink coupons to guest who chose not to have their room cleaned, but now it’s a £5 credit.

Overall, I would stay here again if they were running a deal, but we felt like the room we were in could’ve used a few fixes and updates.

I did love the eco-friendly aesthetic with lot of plants and upcycled furniture.

I’m glad to see they’ve kept a lot of the sustainability practices from the first hotel owners. And I’m happy to have supported a hotel that shares my ethics.

I wish more hotels would have heartfelt eco practices.
