The Entrepreneurial Blogger
When I launched my blog as a sophomore in college I had no clue what I was doing. I never thought that my silly blog would be something thousands of people read....or something I could turn into a business. I started my blog with no knowledge. Here are a few mistakes I made as a beginner blogger that could save you some time and money AND grow your community quicker.
A lot of brands want free promotion...and I do free blog posts sometimes because I'm passionate about social impact and I want to spread the word. I'm not just in it for the money.
Yes, by traditional blogging standards I'm not the best....but at least I'm honest about it. I'm probably the most inconsistent blogger that you follow, but hey I can't help it. That's life for me.
Where are you based? How do you find new brands? Do you make money off your blog? In this post I answer all the questions.
Two years ago TODAY I was sitting in my dorm room at Belmont University when I made a pixelated logo in Powerpoint and typed up out the words The Honest Consumer. I had no idea what was ahead of me.
I'm the girl who wakes up twenty minutes before a meeting or class, throws on a bra, deodorant, brushes her teeth, and runs out the door. I'm the girl with a mind running at 1,000 miles an hour in five different directions. I literally have a sign in my living room that says, "Welcome to the Shit Show" because I'm all over the place, all the time.
When I started The Honest Consumer in 2016 I did not want to be in the pictures. If you scroll back to the beginning of my Instagram feed, you will notice I'm rarely in a photograph. When I thought about bloggers, I pictured that perfect girl with the photogenic lifestyle and that's not who I am or what The Honest Consumer is.
