Find Your Freedom by Loving Yourself

A lot of times when I write about my struggles or embracing my flaws I get messages from people saying things like how they “admire my courage” or that I’m “wise beyond my years.” But I honestly can’t imagine living any other way….why be someone you’re not? My close friends will tell you….I’m a terrible liar…I laugh every time so I can’t even attempt to go down that path. I have transparent facial expressions, so I suck at hiding my emotions. I can’t stand fake people or small talk…let’s get to the meaningful conversations. Now, I’ll admit back in high school I definitely tried to fit in, but I got over that real quick. I found that I’d rather be who I truly am and surrounded by people who love the real me rather than constantly trying to act like someone I’m not. There is freedom in embracing your flaws, not fearing your struggles, and loving your true self. I’m lucky to have found that freedom early on in life.

Love Where You Are in Life & The People in Your Life

Jake & I were one of the few who found each other in high school. We’ve been together ever since. And I know we’re really lucky in that aspect. I honestly don’t know how people date. The stories I’ve heard from my friends….I can’t imagine trying to master the dating apps, meet people at work, and all the other dating tricks. But I know that tonight, on Valentine’s day, a few of my friends will be on awkward Tinder dates, a few will be drinking alone, and a few will be celebrating with their significant others….or their dogs. All are okay. Love life where you are. Easy for me to say since I’ve found my person, I know. But really, I’m queen of not living in the now, daydreaming of the future, and regretting it later. So take my word when I say love where you are in life and love the people who are currently in your life…even if you haven’t found your “one.” . Valentine’s Day focuses on couples, but love reaches so far beyond couples. Love your friends. Love your family. And LOVE yourself. Don’t spend time dwelling on the love you don’t have. Love the ones you do.

Know & Love Your Messy, Beautiful Self

I'm the girl who wakes up twenty minutes before a meeting or class, throws on a bra, deodorant, brushes her teeth, and runs out the door. I'm the girl with a mind running at 1,000 miles an hour in five different directions. I literally have a sign in my living room that says, "Welcome to the Shit Show" because I'm all over the place, all the time.

The Struggle of Back to School

It's that time of year again. Back to school. Tired eyes, chapped lips, and picked nails. I know I'm not the only one dreading it. I'm sitting here drowning myself in design work for clients, writing, and procrastinating even LOOKING at my homework. Don't get me wrong, I'm incredibly grateful for my education because I recognize what a privilege it truly is.
