Ethical Style Living Out of a Carry On for 3 Weeks: Clothes to Pack

Jake & I decided to pack lite for our trip because we didn't want to be hauling around massive suitcases through the train stations and airports. So this meant packing three weeks worth of clothes into one tiny suitcase. So what do you bring? It was a challenge for sure! It gave me a bit more appreciation for minimalism and capsule wardrobes. I tried to focus on basics and similar color patterns. So here is what I brought and what I would recommend! With a little blurb about the ethical brands of course! :)

The Basics: Ethical & Sustainable T-Shirts (5 Tees)

The Standard Tee by Krochet Kids

I packed a few of "the Standard" tees from Krochet Kids. One which was solid white and one that was black & white striped. These neutral patterns were able to go with a variety of bottoms, jackets, and accessories. I love Krochet Kid's Standard Tees because the fit is loose and comfortable. Perfect for all the walking we were doing in Europe. These tee shirts are also made with 100% responsibly sourced cotton which kept me cool in the heat!

Fun Brand Fact: Krochet Kids works with vulnerable women who live in impoverished women around the world through their partnership with Capable. Capable is a holistic program providing education and financial mentorship to employees. Employees are provided with fair wages and safe working environments.

Groceries Apparel Eucalyptus & Organic Cotton Tees

I brought two of my Groceries Apparel tees. My white Eucalyptus Tencel Sweet Vee is great because while it is white, the front of the shirt has a double layered style which makes sure the shirt isn't see through! I struggle with some white tees because they can be so thin and see through, which is why I especially love this tee from Groceries Apparel.  Along with my Eucalyptus Tencel Sweet Vee, I packed my Organic Cotton Women's Vee. The Mineral shade is perfect for adding a hint of purple to my wardrobe. This tee was easy to pair with my jean jacket and/or white jeans or leggings.

Fun Brand Fact: Groceries Apparel is made in the USA using eco-friendly materials such as organic cotton, recycled cotton, & eucalyptus!

United by Blue: Restoring the Ocean One Tee at a Time

United by Blue was the one graphic tee I brought! As we were going to spend a bit of time near the water, I wanted to pack my ocean inspired tee, the Women's UBB x Lonely Whale Tee. Made with organic cotton and recycled polyester, this tee was comfortable and perfect for relaxing.

Fun Brand Fact: For every item sold, United by Blue removed one pound of trash from oceans & waterways!

Cute Tops for Summer Style (4 Tops)

Thought Clothing: Sustainable Style

I brought two nicer tops from Thought. One was a white and blue floral top which went within my neutral and blue color theme. The other top was a brown patterned top that was easy to pair with jeans or a fun colored pair of shorts. Both of these tops were loose fitting which kept me comfortable, as well as made with organic cotton and tencel!

Fun Brand Fact: Thought (previously Braintree Clothing) uses sustainable materials and ethical practices to create eclectic style.

Mata Traders: Empowering Women Through Fair Trade Fashion

The Odessa Trim Top-Midnight by Mata Traders is one of my favorite summer tops. The fit is incredibly comfortable and keeps me cool while walking. I love the simple pattern that compliments the navy color.

Faire.Shop: Cool & Comfy Summer Top

My Denim Sleeveless Buttoned Top from Faire.Shop was great for traveling because the minimalistic design allows this top to be dressed up or down. I could easily throw on a pair of white jeans and some jewelry for nicer occasions or wear it with a simple pair of leggings.

Bottoms to Mix & Match (6 Bottoms)

Jeans: Ethical Denim

Through out our travels, certain places would get chilly during the evenings which is why I'm glad I brought some pants.

Everlane: White jeans are great for summer! I love that they are good for cool evenings, but keep you looking trendy and stylish! Everlane is a brand that practices transparency and advocates for sustainability by using responsible materials.

Monkee Genes: My Monkee Genes were perfect for cooler evenings! These jeans are great for dressing up or dressing down depending on the top you pair them with! Monkee Genes ethically crafts their jeans and uses eco-friendly materials such as organic cotton!

ShareHope: The Perfect Pair of Travel Leggings

My ShareHope leggings were great for traveling! They are SO comfortable and the Lava (TM) Zeolites and Agion (TM) technologies help keep me smelling fresh and wick away the heat. That's why they were perfect for all the walking we did on our Europe trip. To visit certain churches, they require you to cover your legs and shoulders, so that's why I was so glad I brought my Sharehope leggings! They're more flexible for walking around in than jeans, and way cooler.

Fun Brand Fact: Profits from ShareHope's ethically made leggings are reinvested into educational and health focused social programs, furthering the growth of garment workers and creating bright futures for Haitian workers.

Mata Traders: Empowering Women Through Fair Trade Fashion

I packed a few pairs of shorts! But my favorite pair were the Mata Trader's Montague Shorts Navy Stripes. I appreciated the longer style of these shorts because they were great for traveling and still stylish! The navy blue and white went with a lot of the other tops I packed as well.

Fun Brand Fact: Mata Traders works to empower women in India through employment opportunities. Through their fair trade initiatives, Mata Traders provides their employees with fair wages, a positive working environment, and a supportive team.
